  • What is TEC?

TEC (Together Encountering Christ) is an intergenerational movement of the Catholic Church designed to help meet the spiritual needs of Catholic Christians (though we certainly welcome those of other Christian faiths to experience a TEC weekend). Over 50,000 young people and adults in our country have experienced TEC in the last 5 years. The TEC weekend proclaims the central message of Christianity: The Paschal Mystery – death, resurrection, and mission. On the weekend, participants not only hear about death, resurrection, and mission in Christ, but also experience these mysteries. TEC is a weekend experience that is scriptural, gives a well-defined outline of doctrine, presents liturgy in attractive forms, and brings the Gospel message alive through the witness of a community of adults and young people centered around Christ.

Those who are freshmen in high school and older are invited to take part in a KAIROS (pronounced “kigh-rohs”) TEC weekend. This Greek term means that now is the time of the Lord, now is the time of decision, now is the time of salvation. This name captures the uniqueness and reality of the TEC format. It has been a valuable experience for many, and we extend this invitation to you to “come and see.

We hope you will join us!

  • Overview of Kairos TEC Program

What is TEC? TEC (Together Encountering Christ) is an experience in Catholic Christian living, especially designed for adults and young people ages 15 and up.

    In TEC, you will...

    • Experience a fresh, different atmosphere away from everyday life
    • Meet new people from other places
    • Reflect and share with others how you see yourself, your ideals and goals, and your hopes
    • Encounter Jesus Christ risen and alive today
    • Strengthen your relationship with God

Where will it be held? At various parishes throughout the Diocese of Madison, so that the TEC program may reach out to all interested people.

When should you arrive? 11:45 a.m. on the first day (Lunch will not be served on the First day).

What time does TEC end? Approximately 4:00 p.m. on the third day.

What should you bring along? Dress clothes for the Sunday Liturgy; casual clothes for most of the weekend. Bring along towels, washcloth, sleeping bag, cot, or air mattress, blanket, sheets, pillow, and personal toiletries.

How much does it cost? $65.00 for the entire weekend. This covers all meals and supplies.  $55.00 is the early-bird price if your application is turned in 3 weeks ahead of the TEC weekend.

Who can make a TEC? Catholic and other Christians who are at least 15 years old. All adults are highly encouraged to make a TEC.

How do you get there? You are responsible for making arrangements for your transportation with people in your area. A map will be sent to you once you register.

How many from one parish may attend? Recommend no more than six individuals from one parish participating in a given weekend, however, exceptions will be granted on an individual basis.
