“For I know well the plans I have in mind for you—oracle of the LORD—plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope..”
Jeremiah 29:11
We all know the importance of having good Catholic schools. As part of our 2025 Lenten giving campaign we are raising money for the reconstruction of St. John Paul II School's roof in the Diocese of Jacmel. To accomplish this, the Madison Diocese has set of goal of raising $110,000.
This campaign is an incredible opportunity to show our support for all the children who need our help in Madison’s sister diocese and advance the mission of the Universal Church!
The students and teachers at St. John Paul II School are desperately in need of a new roof. The construction of St. John Paul II School was originally started with funding from Polish Caritas. In 2014, the construction firm that was hired went bankrupt and the contract with Polish Caritas was terminated. Construction stopped from 2014-2019. When construction resumed the roof was already in need of replacement due to the fact that it was made of metal and exposed to both rain and sea water. Today when it rains, students get rained on in class and have to huddle in dry corners. Additionally, the interior of the building is deteriorating due to rain damage. The school is in desperate need of a new roof to keep students dry and healthy.
Your support can help make a difference in
the lives of students living in Jacmel! If every Catholic in the Diocese contributed just 80 cents ($0.80), the school's roof repair would be financed. Together, with our efforts, prayers, and God’s grace, we can make this happen! Inspired by Jeremiah 29:11, we are reminded that God loves His children in Haiti abundantly and has plans for their welfare!
