Overview
Since Summer 2023, the Office of Marriage & Family has been working closely with Justin Bangert, who is both a faithful Catholic and a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in the Madison area. Recognizing the need for more people like Justin to support families within the Diocese, our team has been picking his brain for resources and strategies that we can use on a non-therapeutic level for couples looking to strengthen their marriage.
Tools and Resources
The main tool we plan to use is Prepare/Enrich, an evidence-based assessment tool that works well both for engaged and married couples. It costs $35 to take the assessment, but the M&F team will offer up to three follow-up sessions free of charge.
There are six core areas that we will cover, which include:- Strength and Growth Areas in Your Marriage

- Personal Stress Profiles
- Conflict Resolution
- Couple and Family Maps
- Personality Styles
In addition to those six, we can get into a variety of other topics depending upon your needs. Other areas include:- Financial Management

- Relationship Roles
- Spiritual Beliefs
- Marriage Expectations
- Children and Parenting
- Life Goals
Books and Referrals
Although Prepare/Enrich serves as the primary tool we offer, the M&F team will also draw from a variety of other resources, which are both Christian and secular.- The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by Dr. John Gottman and Nan Silver

If our team is unable to support you in the ways that you need, we can also refer you to Justin Bangert for the more specialized therapy that he is qualified to offer. We sincerely hope, however, that we will be able to help you strengthen your marriage in a few small, but important, ways.
