The 2002 delegation to Ghana was our first. It was the intention of this delegation to establish a partnership with the Diocese of Novrongo-Bolgatanga in Ghana.

The initial delegates from our diocese were Fr. Steve Umhoefer from the Nativity of Mary Parish in Janesville, Fr. Steve Steele from St. Mary Parish in Bloomington, J. Mark Brinkmoeller of the Office of Justice and Peace, Mrs. Jessica Brey, then from St. Ann Parish in Stoughton, and Clarence & Dorothy Mougin from St. Norbert in Roxbury. Our delegates were guided through this entire process by Malone Miller from the Catholic Relief Services in Baltimore as well as the many CRS folks in Ghana.

These travelers were primarily responsible for establishing the wonderful friendly relationship we now enjoy with our wonderful sisters and brothers in Ghana. it was through their efforts and hard work that the partnership is up and running as strongly as it now exists.
