Seat of Wisdom Diocesan Institute
"Do whatever he tells you" (Jn. 2:5)

The Seat of Wisdom Diocesan Institute is a program of Adult Faith Formation and Catechetical Certification in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Madison, Wisconsin.

The Institute offers a comprehensive and systematic formation based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church.  It aims to put adult participants "not only in touch but in communion, in intimacy, with Jesus Christ" (John Paul II, CT) thereby strengthening them to be more effective witnesses and teachers of the Gospel.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The Institute is for any and all adults seeking to deepen their knowledge of the Catholic faith.  In addition, the Institute offers a certification program for parish catechists, Catholic school principals and teachers, directors and coordinators of religious education, youth ministers, all those involved in any form of adult religious education—in particular, the RCIA—and education commission / committee personnel. Other parish ministers are encouraged to register and attend as well.

WHERE IS THE INSTITUTE LOCATED?
Recognizing we live in a busy society, the Seat of Wisdom Diocesan Institute seeks primarily to meet people where they are—in parishes, where most of their learning is already taking place.  Our classes move from parish to parish, attempting to gather and serve the largest number of students possible from the 131 parishes in our diocese.

HOW MUCH DO THE COURSES COST?

Though no one will be turned away for an inability to pay, the tuition for each course is $10.  A course is indicated by a course number, i.e. "CAT 101."  Each course is made up of session hours as indicated with each course description, i.e. "SS 1-2."  One or more session hours may be covered in a particular class, such as at the Bishop O'Connor Catholic Pastoral Center on Saturday October 10, 2009, where SS 1-6 of CAT 101 will be covered.  (Courses offered at St. Patrick's Church of the Cathedral Parish are free of charge.)
